MOSCOW, Feb 27 (PRIME) -- The Federal State Statistics Service has estimated the share of shadow economy in Russia at 15–16% of the gross domestic product (GDP), Director Alexander Surinov told reporters on Tuesday.
Kommersant business daily reported earlier that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated the share of the Russian shadow economy at 33.7% of GDP.
“Yes, I’ve read it. It is very difficult for me to comment on these figures, because under our estimates around two times lower. I believe in 2016 we had 14.7%, around 15–16%. Around two times lower,” he said.
